Intellectual Property Law in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has a developed system of IP laws covering patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs. The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (“SAIP”) is the body responsible for managing and promoting intellectual property in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in accordance with global best practices. It is also home to the various IP law registers that exist to protect intellectual property rights.

Saudi Arabia is a member of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (“WIPO”), the specialised United Nations agency. It is also party to a number of relevant international treaties, including the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (covering copyright) and the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property.
